for you. This program is designed to meet the requirements set forth by the Arizona Department of Education for public school teaching. The Teacher Certification Program provides the

Secondary Education Certification/Licensure is not an academic major, but rather a required companion program to an academic major for students who wish to teach at the high school level. Students
must complete a major in a high school subject area approved by the state (e.g. English, history, biology, mathematics), as well as professional knowledge and secondary methods courses, prior to
the student teaching field experience. Prospective high school teachers learn to be sensitive to the unique needs, challenges and learning styles of a diverse adolescent student population.

The College of Education at the University of Phoenix offers a variety of individual professional growth courses in areas such as technology, special education, reading, math, middle school,
administration and early childhood. Some of these Continuing Education (CE) courses may lead to endorsement in a specialty area such as bilingual education or reading. These courses are offered in
a concentrated and intensive format consisting of five workshop meetings which are usually offered in a weekend format. A 42-hour Outside Project is required 2 ½ weeks after the last class
